Empire State Building shooting victim funeral set for Wednesday
The victim of the Empire State Building shooting will be eulogized Wednesday.
Funeral services for Steven Ercolino are set to begin at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains, and a funeral mass will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
"It's always difficult when you don't know the person," said Rev. Philip Quealy, who is with Our Lady of Sorrows and will deliver a eulogy. "I will touch on the sins of violence, and the evil of violence in this world."
Ercolino, 41, was gunned down last Friday by former co-worker Jeffrey Johnson, 58, who held a yearlong grudge over being laid off from his job at Hazan Imports, where Ercolino was a VP of sales.
Meanwhile, a Manhattan grand jury continues to probe the actions of the two NYPD officers who fatally shot Johnson. They could face assault charges for injuries suffered by nine bystanders.
