Cops were searching for the man who stabbed one of their own inside his Jamaica home Wednesday.

Officer Rishi Gobin, 34, who was off-duty, was listed in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital after the fugitive suspect stabbed him in the torso, police said.

"It doesn't appear that any vital organs have been struck," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters outside Gobin's house.

The suspect was breaking into Gobin's home and attempted to rob him around 1 p.m., according to the police.

It was not known why the five-year veteran who works in the Bronx was targeted, Kelly said.

"Obviously anytime an officer is injured, it's always a concern," he said.

The attacker had not been identified or arrested Wednesday afternoon and the investigation was ongoing.
