Queens homeowner ordered held without bail after threatening bank employees

A 52-year-old Queens man who allegedly threatened Pennsylvania bank employees when they refused to forgive his $179,000 home equity loan was ordered held without bail Wednesday.

According to a complaint filed by the FBI, Michael Chung, of Bayside, faxed a letter to a security and loss prevention official at the Sovereign Bank in Pottsfield, Pa. that said he planned to visit an attorney who worked for the bank within the next several days. "The 2nd Amendment to the National Constitution authorizes the use of deadly force to protect my interests as a national citizen," the complaint quoted Chung as writing. "I believe I have a basis to act in that manner."

A check of state licensing records revealed Chung owned a licensed shotgun and the FBI arrested him on Tuesday. He faces a maximum of five years if convcited.

"He's not a terrorist," said an FBI official who declined to be named. "He's a guy that got upset with his bank and took it to a level that most people don't."
