Northrop Grumman Corp.'s unit in Bethpage will be doing its bit this Memorial Day weekend to show off some dazzling military hardware.

The company is flying in two EA-18 Growler jets and an EA-6B Prowler from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, in Washington state. Boeing makes the EA-18, but Northrop Grumman is a major subcontractor for its electronic warfare systems.

The Navy planes are to arrive this afternoon, and will be parked at Sheltair Aviation Services at Republic Airport in East Farmingdale. The public is invited to see the planes on Saturday and Sunday at the American Air Power Museum at Republic.

The Growlers and the Prowlers, active military aircraft, will not participate in the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach over the weekend.

But a Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet will, painted with an insignia celebrating the 100th anniversary of naval aviation, much of which originated on Long Island with the construction of naval aircraft during World War II by the former Grumman Corp.
