Pleasantville smells -- and that's just fine with residents, visitors and at least one critic.

The tony Westchester County village of 7,019 made perfume critic Chandler Burr's list of "Smelliest Cities on the Planet" and was listed among larger municipalities, such as San Francisco, Rome, London and Mumbai.

Burr ranked the village No. 2 among those that smell best. Los Angeles was No. 1 and New Orleans No. 3, according to GQ's website.

Burr, the director and curator of the Center of Olfactory Art at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and a former New York Times perfume critic, wrote that the village smelled of maple, oak and pine and "their leaves at all stages -- green, yellow, dead brown and budding."

He also opined that the village's suburban wealth had an influence on its odor and that "if Norman Rockwell's paintings emitted a scent," it might remind one of Pleasantville.

As counterpoint, Burr named Paris as the worst-smelling city on the planet. Parisians' propensity for smoking helped them earn that distinction, according to the GQ post.

Pleasantville Barber Shop owner Gabriel Yakubob, 30, of Queens said, "I haven't been around the world that often, but (Pleasantville) smells pretty good.

"There's no funky smell or anything. It's a beautiful town."

First-time Pleasantville visitor Shari Walters of the Bronx said: "I think it smells very refreshing. Clean air, blue skies, clear skies. Everything looks fresh."

Walters, however, wasn't sure that she'd cash in the "Boogie Down" for the 'burbs. "I might not trade (the Bronx), but it's nice to visit."

Relaxing on a bench outside the village's train station, energy trader Jeff Ianniello of Mamaroneck, who was in town for business, said he could think of one thing that smelled better than Pleasantville: "Coronas on Malibu Beach."
