The restoration of Sagamore Hill after the historic site was closed involved the removal of books, most furniture and artifacts, and all but a few animal-head trophies too fragile to relocate. (June 27, 2012) Credit: Chris Ware

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site has launched a self-guided cellphone tour of the property.

The tour consists of eight stops, including Theodore Roosevelt’s Victorian mansion, the pet cemetery, the tennis court and the garden. It also provides information on less-well-known features such as the nature trail and the Cold Spring Harbor beach.

The cellphone tours supplement ranger-guided programs offered daily and provide narration for visitors arriving before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m., when staff is not on duty.

The cell tour can be accessed by dialing 516-502-0044.
