St. Dom's R.J. Beil records 250th point of his career
St. Dominic senior R.J. Beil recorded the 250th point of his career Monday on an assist to Grant Galligan 10 seconds into a non-league win over Portledge.
After scoring five goals with two assists in the 13-5 road win, Beil’s total points is now up to 256, which “easily ranks him in at least the top-five in the program’s history,” according to third-year head coach Matt O’Brien.
“He makes everyone around him better,” O’Brien said. “He’s left his footprint on this program.”
And in more ways than one.
Beil, a member of the 2011 CHSAA Class A championship team, has won 63 percent of his faceoffs, has scored 44 goals and has 22 assists this season.
Despite constantly being double-teamed — and sometimes even triple-teamed — Beil has the ability to find teammates and has made many players around him better, O’Brien said.
The four-year varsity attackman will take his unselfish personality and skill set to Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland and play for its Division I men’s lacrosse team.
“He’s going to be a rising star as soon as he walks in the door,” O’Brien said. “He’s going to be very instrumental in their success just as he is here in ours.”
