Syosset schools president Marc Herman leaving board
Dr. Marc Herman, who has served on the Syosset Board of Education for nearly 20 years, most recently as its president, has announced he will not seek being re-appointed as board president this year and will not seek re-election next year when his term expires, according to the school district.
In 2010, Herman, a dentist with a practice in Woodbury, received the Life Achievement Award from the National Parent-Teacher Association for his devotion to children’s education.
Herman ran unopposed in 2007 and 2010. Herman cited personal and professional commitments for his decision.
Two new members were elected to the board in May, including 18-year-old Josh Lafazan, a Syosset High School senior who was the youngest school board candidate on Long Island.
