East Rockaway Post Office partially reopened on Friday
The East Rockaway Post Office partially reopened for business on Friday.
Customers having a post office box at the East Rockaway office may now access their boxes to pick up mail. Due to phone and Internet interruptions, limited retail services will be available.
Retail hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Post office box access hours are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, utility and phone companies continue to work on restoring full power at the East Rockaway post office for full retail services to begin in the near future, post office officials said.
The post office is located at 10 Main Street in East Rockaway.
U.S. Postal Service officials remind customers who have evacuated or relocated due to the storm to submit a change of address, place mail on hold, or request that mail be temporarily forwarded to their new location.
They can complete an online request or visit any post office to fill out a permanent or temporary change of address card.
Customers can call the USPS Customer Service Center at 1-800-275-8777 or visit www.usps.com.
