Updated volleyball playoff schedules

Both Section VIII and Section XI released revised playoff schedules, Monday, in light of Superstorm Sandy. All county championships are scheduled to be completed by Sunday. Suffolk boys and girls volleyball playoffs will begin Wednesday, while Nassau boys and girls volleyball playoffs will begin Thursday.
The complete volleyball playoff schedule is described below, but here are the opening round match-ups for girls and boys.
NASSAU GIRLS
-Class AA will play on consecutive days, Thursday through Sunday, with the opening round Thursday, quarterfinals Friday, semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Top seed: Massapequa.
-Class A has the same schedule as Class AA—opening round Thursday, quarterfinals Friday, semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Top seed: Wantagh
-Class B begins its postseason with quarterfinal matches on Friday, and continues with the semifinals on Saturday and championship match on Sunday. Top seed: Seaford
-Class C playoffs start with the Carle Place-Malverne semifinal on Friday and continue with the East Rockaway-Oyster Bay semifinal on Saturday. The championship match will be held on Sunday. Top seed: Carle Place
NASSAU BOYS
-Class A playoffs begin with quarterfinal matches Friday, and continue with semis on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Top seed: Massapequa
-Class B will hold its opening playoff round Thursday, quarterfinals on Friday, semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday. Top seed: Bellmore JFK
Nassau boys and girls volleyball playoff matches will be played at the higher seed until the championship round, which will be at a site to be determined later.
SUFFOLK GIRLS
-Class AA will have first round matches Wednesday, quarterfinals Thursday, semifinals Friday and the championship on Saturday. Top seed: Ward Melville
-Class A has one play-in game between the eighth and ninth seeds—Rocky Point and Miller Place—on Wednesday, with the winner playing top-seeded Kings Park as one of four quarterfinal matches on Thursday. Semifinals will be played Friday and the championship will be Saturday. Top seed: Kings Park
-Class B playoffs begin with semifinal matches on Wednesday and conclude with the championship match on Friday. Top seed: Glenn
-Class C will have a play-in match between the fourth and fifth seeds—Mercy and Mattituck—Wednesday, with the winner playing top-seeded Babylon on Thursday in one of two semifinal matches. The championship match will be Friday. Top seed: Babylon
SUFFOLK BOYS
-Division I will play two play-in games AND the quarterfinals on Thursday, and continue with semifinals Friday and finals on Saturday. Top seed: Lindenhurst
-Division II will start with semifinals Friday, and finals on Saturday. Top seed: Eastport-South Manor
All Suffolk boys and girls playoff matches will be played at the higher seed.
