Saturday is expected to be a pretty good day for leaf peeping and other outdoor activities, forecasters say.

Sunday, not so much.

Sunny skies were expected for Saturday, with temperatures heading up to around the mid-50s, the National Weather Service said in its late Friday afternoon forecast. Normal for the day is 57 degrees.

That means, in the wake of Thursday and Friday’s warmth, the day “will be much cooler and seasonable,” said Matt Hammer, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.

Sunday may be a bit warmer, with highs in the low to mid 60s, but chances of rain enter the picture from overnight Saturday through Sunday, the weather service said.

As for fall foliage, the weekly report on Iloveny.com says areas of western Long Island can be expected to be mostly at midpoint of change or close to peak, with areas further east at midpoint, meaning about 50 percent changed.
