It will be cloudy Friday on Long Island with temperatures hitting a high in the upper 70s, forecasters said.

“We had some rain overnight. There are some clouds this morning, giving way to some sunshine,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

Patchy fog moves in Saturday morning, but that will dissipate and skies will be mostly sunny later in the day, the National Weather Service said.

There is a chance of showers early Sunday, and a possibility of showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon, the weather service said. If those thunderstorms do develop they could produce heavy rain, the service said.

Daytime high temperatures during the weekend will continue to be in the upper 70s and nighttime lows will be in the mid-60s, the weather service said.

Monday, the Columbus Day holiday, will have showers, and thunderstorms could develop Tuesday morning, the weather service said.

What’s left of Tropical Storm Nate, now in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to move through the area Tuesday, the weather service said.

“Monday into Tuesday, remnants of Nate could bring us some moderate rain,” Hoffman said.
