Long Island is in for more rain Monday, mainly before 2 p.m., forecasters said.
Winds Sunday evening were forecast to be between 15 and 20 mph, with occasional gusts of nearly 40 mph before decreasing Monday to between 6 and 9 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
There were no reports of widespread damage Sunday but by the late afternoon, a large tree had toppled over on Southdown Road near Tanyard Lane, blocking traffic. Suffolk County police responded and redirected traffic out of the area.
Monday will be cloudy even when the rain stops, the weather service said. The high temperature will be about 52 degrees.
There is a 30% chance of showers in the evening before 8 p.m.
The sun reappears Tuesday. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies all day and night, with a high in the upper 50s. Wednesday will bring more of the same — sun and highs in the 50s.
Clouds roll in again Wednesday night, and Thursday will be mostly gray, with a 30% chance of showers after 2 p.m. and a 70% chance of rain overnight, according to the weather service.
