57°Good afternoon

March’s windy conditions take a reprise on Saturday, as most of Long Island is set to reach highs in the low to mid 70s, the National Weather Service forecasts.

Friday will see highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, about 10 degrees above average temperatures, said service meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki. A chance of showers is forecast for Friday night into Saturday.

But as a warm front lifts from the north Friday night, temperatures are set to exceed 20 degrees above normal temperatures on Saturday.

Those on the East End will see slightly cooler temperatures with highs in the 60s.

These temperatures are average highs for the month of May, he said.

“You'll probably have a lot of people that get spring fever tomorrow,” Ciemnecki said.

A slight chance of spotted showers may occur in the afternoon, but skies will mostly be sunny, Ciemnecki said.

“It's more dry than wet at this point,” he said about Saturday’s forecast.

The warm temperatures will be short lived, as Sunday takes a colder turn once a cold front comes back to the area.

Sunday will see highs in the mid-to-upper 50s in Nassau and Suffolk counties, while the East End will have highs in the low 50s. Conditions will be mostly cloudy.

“Sunday is going to be a much cooler, kind of crummier day,” Ciemnecki said

A 50% chance of rain is forecast for Sunday night into Monday.

Showers are expected to continue through Monday.

Ciemnecki suggested Long Islanders take advantage of Saturday's sunny and warm weather. “They'll want to get out and do some stuff.”
