WWE Extreme Rules 2014: The Shield beats Evolution

WWE play-by-play announcer Michael Cole referred to it as the "kings verses the soldiers."
And while it's good to be king, Sunday's night's Extreme Rules pay-per-view match between Evolution and The Shield proved that fighting "the man" can be pretty nice, too.
Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista reforming Evolution to face The Shield's trio of Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins allowed both teams to do what they do best.
Evolution, like sister faction the Four Horsemen, succeeded at creating new stars, no matter how higher-than-thou they would portray themselves in interviews.
The Evolution reformation was a tip of the cap to The Shield, which looked to be breaking up earlier this year. The only thing is, the three have performed so well that it posed two serious questions: Who do you break out as a singles star, and why break them up at all?
The answer was keeping them united as anti-heroes by pitting them with oppressive WWE exec Triple H and his two partners-in-crime.
The result was a "big-fight feel," as color commentator JBL put it, with the Shield delaying their entrance to make their more experienced foes think about what was coming.
And what followed was a big fight, with The Shield hitting their triple powerbomb finisher on Batista, only for his partners to make the save.
This battle couldn't be confined to the ring, and Ambrose created a unique attack on the oft-used announce tables, running across both the Spanish and regular announces tables to take out Orton and Triple H.
Orton, Ambrose, Rollins and Triple H fought into the stands, with Rollins creating an even more unforgettable moment with a 15-foot leap from one part of the stands to take out Orton and Triple H.
Batista and Reigns remained in the ring, and Reigns hit Batista with the spear for the victory.
