Now running for her third term, Wheatley Heights Democrat Kimberly Jean-Pierre clearly has a road map in place about how to deliver for her district. She has succeeded in bringing funds to her communities, from Copiague to Lindenhurst to Wyandanch, and advocating for everything from superstorm Sandy relief to Farmingdale State College’s needs.
Jean-Pierre, 34, emphasized the need for the Long Island delegation to coalesce around suburban issues and to better present the region and its needs to the legislature. She works with Republicans and needs to take a lead on that effort.
Lindenhurst Republican Kevin V. Sabella has walked an impressive road, overcoming challenges as a special education student to eventually receive a master’s degree in public policy and now, to work as a paralegal. Sabella, 29, has a passionate commitment to his community and should stay involved in politics.
Newsday endorses Jean-Pierre.
