Letter: 'Italian zucchini'? It's 'gagoots'

"Italian zucchini"? You must be kidding ["Reader photo," News, Aug. 27].

The squash is called cucuzza. Most Italians and all Sicilians know it as "gagoots."

I've grown it for more than 40 years, and my father did so before me.
