Letter: Man left in boat had few choices
Prosecuting Janusz Sowa, the homeless man who was charged with boating while intoxicated, is a travesty and a waste of taxpayer money ["Cops ID body as boater's," News, Aug. 12].
If this guy were gainfully employed, he'd be home with his family mourning the loss of his friend, Stanislaw Nawrocki. Sowa would have everyone's sympathy.
Simply being intoxicated is not a crime, and no one has accused him of being disorderly. Once Nawrocki allegedly fell off the boat -- which is not really that rare -- and a passing vessel rebuffed his hails, Sowa had no option but to operate the boat.
