I received a very good-looking mailer over the weekend from my Nassau County Legislator, Michael Venditto. The mailer congratulated the Nassau County GOP for repealing the Nassau Democrats' 2.5 percent energy tax.

However, Venditto forgot to mention the $100 million in new taxes, fees and surcharges that have been imposed on Nassau County homeowners and businesses since 2011. That figure was reported in Newsday on Friday ["Nassau fees up by $100M since 2011," July 26].

If Venditto and his Republican colleagues want to take credit for eliminating a Democrats' tax, it's only fair that they take credit for new Republican taxes.
