Trump candidacy appearing dangerous
“Trump’s new tax plan” [News, Aug. 9] reported on a speech Donald Trump gave in which he pledged allegiance to discredited, old Republican notions of trickle-down economics.
On the opposite page, 50 former national security officials who served in Republican administrations signed a letter that alarmingly stated that Trump “would be the most reckless President in American history” [“Security officials band against Trump,” News, Aug. 9].
Newsday’s concern with journalistic balance is admirable, but the bigger story of the two is clearly the letter.

I don’t understand the rationale of those who say that Donald Trump is not only unacceptable but also seriously dangerous, and yet will not support Hillary Clinton.
If Trump is unacceptable, and you vote for one of the minor party candidates, you are casting half a vote for Trump because you could be making it easier for Clinton to win and you’re not. Any missed opportunity to aid Clinton helps Trump.
