Since Americans have been protected from attacks by foreign nations, we should consider what we can do for our disabled veterans.

We should require all American taxpayers who are due a refund around tax time to help out these veterans every year.

People doing their taxes and expecting a refund of say, more than $1,000, should be required to check a box with an option to contribute $100 to any organization that helps disabled former members of the armed services.

Consider using a sliding scale, which would work, too, so those who earn a lot more can contribute more.

It’s about time these men and women truly get acknowledged for the sacrifices they made for our country. Their contributions to our defense should never be forgotten.

They should be taken care of because of their courage to protect the people who enjoy so many freedoms, thanks to these veterans.
