Republicans on the Westchester County Board of Legislators are calling on county Executive Rob Astorino and members of his administration to attend a meeting (a committee of the whole) to hammer out a compromise on the day care issue.

They sent an email to Astorino and Board Chairman Ken Jenkins on Monday, which comes days after a Newsday column on this same issue, calling for some sort of agreement on day care fees.

Astorino had said there's no money and wanted to raise parental contributions from 15 percent to 35 percent and lawmakers are looking for a contribution somewhere in the middle (25 percent). The issue is now in court.

All seven Republicans on the 17-member Board of Legislators support the move.
