Wide-plank pine flooring and exposed wood beams characterize a cedar-shingled home a block and a half from a beach in Cutchogue.
"It's not sleek and contemporary, it's kind of cozy and warm," said listing agent Jon Tomlinson, of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.
The three-bed, two-bath home on Pequash Avenue is on the market for $999,000. Taxes on the 0.4-acre property, which falls within the Mattituck-Cutchogue Union Free School District, total $7,138.
The home is within walking distance of East Creek Beach and Dave Allison Park, which includes playground equipment and benches that overlook Cutchogue Harbor.
"I think if you're looking for a tight-knit community near the beach, it's a great place," Tomlinson said.
Residents have the option to join the Fleet's Neck Property Owners Association for $95 a year, Tomlinson said. Members of the association can store kayaks in a private area, he said.
The house includes such details as a wood-burning fireplace and off-white wooden doors with distinctive black latches. An exposed wall panel separates the living room and dining areas.
"Originally that was a wall that was there," Tomlinson said. The owner wanted to open up the space by removing the wall, he said, but chose to keep the beams as "a decorative touch."
Tomlinson has been working to find more information about the history of the home, which measures 1,568 square feet excluding the basement, he said.
"You get this character, this warmth, from the house that I don't think you see very often out there," he said.
