Cutchogue house for sale had gut renovation last year

A newly updated Cape in Cutchogue is on the market for $1.525 million. The taxes are $7,858.

The house was built in 1940 and gut renovated last year, said listing agent Dana Bartel, of Compass.

"One of my favorite things about the house is that my clients did everything themselves," she said. "All of the design, all of the fixtures, the finishes, the layout — it was conceived by them, so there's a lot of heart and soul in the house."

Located on Skunk Lane, the house sits on a 0.42-acre lot. Totaling 2,600 square feet, it features four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Originally, it was structured as a two-family home with dual kitchens and separate living spaces, Bartel said.

"They really took everything out," she said.

The kitchen was upgraded with a large window overlooking the backyard, plus two skylights, Bartel said. "I think they add a huge amount of natural light," she added.

Other standout features include a foyer, a back porch with with sunset views, a fire pit and a full basement. The property is in the Mattituck-Cutchogue Union Free School District.

The backyard has potential to become an entertainment oasis: "There's a lot of space to put in a pool if someone wanted to," Bartel said. "What's also nice is there is a detached shed. So if you wanted to put plumbing and electric into that structure, you could make it a cabana or pool house, which would be a great addition to the property."
