A Tudor-style home from 1917 in Port Washington is on the market for nearly $2.5 million. The taxes are $40,833, plus $360 a year to the Port Washington Estates Association, which includes beach access and dock space.

Featuring four bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms, the house on Woodland Place totals 3,476 square feet. The 0.88-acre property is in the Port Washington Union Free School District.

The house was dubbed Sky Island by its architect, said listing agent Jane Walsh of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. The name refers to the secluded location of the property and its multitude of viewpoints, she said.

"You approach this house from a nearly hidden private lane, but at the same time, you're right in the middle of the prime Port Washington Estates neighborhood, with access to everything that Port has to offer," Walsh said.

From rooms with wraparound windows to skylights above, the house is immersed in its landscape, she said.

"You have total privacy and incredible, elevated views of winter water, the Manhattan skylines and western sunsets," Walsh said.

The design of the exterior is another feature that makes the property stand out: "The multi-level terraces that go around the house, it makes you feel as if you're in an Italian villa," the agent said. "The house is set on a slope, and they have these brick and stone terraces that are all set into the side of that, and surround the house."

Other notable features include three wood-burning fireplaces, bedrooms with attached sitting areas and private bathrooms and a room in the basement currently being used as a podcast studio.

The house still retains historical charm in its unchanged footprint — and the sellers are only the third owners since 1917, Walsh said.

"It's different from anything on the market here in Port Washington," she said.
