Shelter Island Victorian with heated in-ground pool lists for $2.95M
A Victorian-style home in Shelter Island is on the market for $2.95 million. The annual property taxes are $9,477.
On Irene Lane, the lot size comes to a total of 29,621 square feet. The house contains four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The property includes access to a deeded dock, which is located down the road from the house, said real estate agent Marika Kaasik. She is co-listing the property with Debra Von Brook-Binder and Linda McCarthy.
"There's lots of decking around the house," said Kaasik, "which is great for outdoor living."
It also overlooks Miss Annie's Creek in Mashomack Preserve, "so it's peaceful and there's no light pollution," she said.
Built in 1966 and completely renovated in the '90s, the house is situated in a subdivision called South Ferry Hills, which is known for its elevated landscape, said Kaasik.
"There are no homes across the way, because it's all preserved," she added. "Just trees, nature and a creek."
The primary bedroom features a fireplace, walk-in closet and deck access. Outside, there is a heated in-ground pool, with plenty of seating space around the perimeter.
The pool area can be accessed from the basement level of the house, through sliding doors. The basement has plenty of room for recreational activities, Kaasik said — the sellers currently keep a pool table there.
"It's nice having a finished basement where you can actually hang out," she said.
The modern, open-floor plan of the main level could also be a draw for potential buyers, Kaasik said.
"The kitchen opens to the dining room and to the living room," she said. "People really like that."
The property is served by the Shelter Island Union Free School District.
