On a corner lot in Southold, a wood-paneled ranch-style home sits surrounded by trees. An adjacent lot is vacant, retained by the homeowners as a swath of preserved nature.
The three-bed, two-bath house on half an acre is on the market for $875,000. Annual taxes on the Long Creek Drive property, which falls within the Southold Union Free School District, total $8,157.
"Even though it’s a small piece of property, there’s a lot of privacy there," said listing agent Kristy Naddell, of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

The vacant land behind the house amounts to an additional half-acre parcel and is not for sale, Naddell said. The owners plan to keep it undeveloped and in the family as long as possible, she added.
"I think my favorite part about the house is, they have a beautiful back deck, which is super serene," she said. "It’s just surrounded by woods, so it’s kind of quiet and peaceful back there."
Inside, the house blends "rustic charm" with contemporary style, Naddell said. Knotted wood covers stretches of ceiling in white-walled rooms. A brick fireplace divides freshly-carpeted living and dining areas.

An unfinished basement with high ceilings offers a makeshift wine cellar and a second working fireplace, according to Nadell; these areas are not featured in listing photos. Among recent updates to the "well-maintained" home are renovated bathrooms and fresh paint, she said.
The house is heated by oil and forced air, and cooled by central air conditioning. There is an attached, two-car garage.
"I think we’re really priced to sell," Naddell said of the sub-$1 million price point. "I’ve been showing it pretty much constantly since I listed it."
