Ashley Mayers, March Nassau County Scholar Artist

Ashley Mayers, a senior from Baldwin High School, serves as President and Soprano section leader of the school’s Concert Choir. She also directs the Show Choir and participates in select, student-led vocal ensembles such as Jazz Choir, Sweet Adelines, and an a cappella ensemble entitled, Octapella.

Ashley performed as Dolly in the school’s production of Hello Dolly this past November. She has held many leading roles, both in school and community productions, including Hera in Xanadu, Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray, Vivienne in Legally Blonde, Muriel Tate in Plaza Suite, Addaperle in The Wiz and Lady Merrill in Into the Woods.

Ashley participated in All-County festivals in 2012 and 2014 and in the All-State festival this past December. She also attended the New York State Summer School for the Arts in 2012 and 2014 for choral studies and theatre. She is a member of AIDS Peer Educators, National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Ashley plans on pursuing music theatre in college.
