Westbury High School's Alexander Lopez-Guevara. January Scholar Artist for Nassau County
Alexander Lopez-Guevara, a senior at Westbury High School, has been involved in art since freshman year. Alex has taken many art classes and is currently completing a portfolio in AP Art. He is a member of the Art and Design Club and the National Art Honor Society as well as the National Honor Society. His work was selected for the Art Supervisors Association All County Art Exhibit as well as numerous school exhibitions.
Alex has received several achievement awards in art at Westbury. In addition, had his essay entitled “Fancy Dining” selected as a first-prize winner in the “Stirred But Not Shaken” essay contest sponsored by What Kids Can Do.
Over the past two years Alex attended the Adelphi University Art Foundations Program Life Drawing course on Saturdays and worked with a professional artist to develop and strengthen his skills in art. Alex plans to attend art school after graduation and is interested in pursuing a career in Illustration. He would eventually like to work in the entertainment industry creating movie posters, book covers and advertisements.
