Mark Teixeira continues rehab in Tampa
Mark Teixeira (left calf strain) continued his rehab in Tampa, taking BP and fielding grounders, but not running the bases, though not because of a setback. “It was a planned day of no jogging,’’ Joe Girardi said. “He’ll go back at it [Wednesday] . . . Girardi had Robinson Cano, in a 3-for-25 skid, at designated hitter “just to give him a day off his legs a little bit and try and refresh him.’’ . . . To make room on the 40-man roster, LHP Justin Thomas and INF Steve Pearce were designated for assignment.
