Two baseball teams and one softball team representing the Massapequa Coast and Massapequa International Little Leagues will be honored with a celebratory parade Wednesday.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman made the announcement on Friday. The Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and the Village of Massapequa Park are working together to honor the Massapequa Coast Little League Metro Region champions (12-year-old division), the Massapequa International Little League state softball champions (12-year-old division) and the Massapequa Coast Little League state champions (11-year-old division).

The parade will start at 5 p.m., run along Park Boulevard in Massapequa Park and end with a ceremony at Park and Front Street.

The 12-year-old Massapequa Coast Little League team advanced to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the first team from Long Island to make it since 1978. The Massapequa International softball team captured a state title and the 11-year-old Massapequa Coast Little League team captured its second straight state title.  — Newsday Staff
