Mets present gift to Chipper Jones
Chipper Jones has tormented Mets fans. The Braves third baseman was hitting .314 with 49 home runs in his 19-year career against the Mets entering Friday's game, and even named one of his sons "Shea" after all the success he had in the team's old park.
The weekend series between the Mets and Braves will mark Jones' final at-bats in Queens against the division rival. As part of Jones' farewell tour, Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon presented a 48 x 40 inch framed piece of artwork by Charles Fazzino to Jones prior to Friday's series opener.
What are your thoughts about the Mets presenting Jones a gift after all the pain he delivered - especially during the 1999 NLCS - to the franchise and its fans? Is the Mets' gesture appropriate?
