The Mets tapped into all the different parts of New York City with Friday’s reveal of their new City Connect uniforms.

The jerseys are a dark gray to represent the “concrete jungle” of the city. The pinstripes are made up of circles and diamonds, drawing from the city’s subway maps. There’s a circular patch on the sleeve as a throwback to subway tokens, and the purple woven throughout the uniform represents the 7 Line. And don’t forget the Queensborough Bridge across the front of the hats.

“Our new City Connect uniforms are an homage to everything that makes NYC the greatest city in the world,” Mets chief marketing officer Andy Goldberg said in a news release. “We wanted to honor different parts of the city that connect to our home in Queens. From the bridges to the trains to the streets, Mets fans across New York and beyond can wear this streetwear style look with pride.”

According to the Mets, they’ll wear the uniforms for the first time April 27 against the Cardinals and for every Saturday home game except June 1, when Darryl Strawberry’s No. 18 is retired.

The Mets are one of nine MLB teams this season with new City Connect uniforms. The series was introduced in 2021 and is meant to celebrate the city’s history, spirit and culture that helps bring the teams and communities together. (The other teams this year are the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Dodgers, Guardians, Phillies, Rays, Tigers and Twins.)

The Yankees and Oakland A’s are the only MLB teams that, by the end of 2024, will not have added a City Connect uniform.

Asked on Friday if the Yankees plan to add one anytime soon, a spokesman said nothing has changed since a comment owner Hal Steinbrenner made on “The Michael Kay Show” last June: “We have not had any serious conversations about doing it. It doesn’t mean I won’t someday, but I don’t even know how that would look, quite frankly. I don’t even know what the look would be.”
