Old pals David Wright and Jose Reyes may play next to each other again in Wright's finale

From 2004-11, David Wright and Jose Reyes played side by side on the Mets' infield, the young third baseman and the young shortstop who were stars on the field and became great friends off it.
On Sept. 29, unless something strange happens, Wright and Reyes will get to play together again in Wright’s final game.
“Of course I’ve thought about it,” Wright said Thursday. “It would be cool, but that’s certainly not my call. I really enjoyed getting a chance to be around Jose to reminisce a little bit.”
It’s Mickey Callaway’s call, and the manager indicated after Thursday’s doubleheader sweep that he’s inclined to make it.
“Absolutely,” Callaway said. “I think they probably both deserve that. So we’ll see what happens when we get there.”
Wright has been on the disabled list since Reyes rejoined the Mets on July 5, 2016. Of all the Mets, Reyes was the most emotional when talking about Wright on Thursday.
Of the possibility of playing together again, Reyes said: “That would be awesome. That’s, for sure, going to be one of the highlights of my career if that happened. But I don’t control that. We’ll see what happens. We’re still two weeks away. But that would be awesome.”
