Edgardo Alfonzo on Mets' chances: 'I think this is the year'

Edgardo Alfonzo stood behind the batting cage before Game 3 of the NLDS at Citi Field Monday night and said he wished he could put on a uniform and rejoin the team he played for from 1995 to 2002.
"Every time I come here and hear the airplanes pass by, I feel like I want to cry," the former infielder and current Mets minor-league instructor said.
So what does Alfonzo, 41, think about the Mets' playoff prospects?
"I think this is the year," he said. "The Mets have a great shot to go all the way. It's nice to see the city of New York involved in that . . . It's not as easy as it looks. You have to piece it together and try to match things.
"The best thing they have is the pitching. The pitching is great."
