Farm report: Ryota Igarashi
Remember Ryota Igarashi? Now in the second season of his two-year, $3-million contract, Igarashi lasted only 15 games with the Mets in posting a 4.63 ERA before his demotion to Triple-A Buffalo back on May 17. With the Bisons, however, he could earn a return trip to Flushing at some point.
In 21 appearances for Buffalo, Igarashi has a 0.87 ERA with 34 strikeouts and nine walks in 31 innings. He also has held opponents to a .140 batting average. In a strange twist, the righthander has been more effective against lefties, limiting them to a .085 average with 23 strikeouts and three walks in 14 innings.
