What MLB teams are charging for cardboard cutouts
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, fans cannot attend MLB games in person for at least the start of the 2020 season (and perhaps the entire season). In lieu of this, several teams — including the Mets — are offering a cardboard cutout program, in which fans can pay to have a cardboard likeness of themselves in the stands during home games.
Here are the MLB teams to offer such a program, as well as how much they are charging for each cutout:
National League
Braves: $50, $25 for season ticket holders
Brewers: $50
Dodgers: $149 for field level/loge seats. $299 for Pavilion Home run seats (outfield)/ Dugout club (behind the plate)
Giants: $99
Mets: $86 with net proceeds donated to the Mets foundation; free for season-ticket holders who renew their packages for 2021 (one per plan with additional cutouts available at a discount).
Padres: The team is placing cutouts of family members and other people important to Padres players in seats behind home plate for the team’s opening series. They plan to have different cutouts each homestand or series based on various themes and to honor certain groups, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Phillies: $25 for season-ticket holders, $40 for the general public, with proceeds benefiting Phillies charities.
Reds: $75
American League
Astros: $100
Athletics: $49 for A’s Access members; $89 for general fans; $149 for the ALS CURE project foul ball zone (If cutout "catches" a foul ball in the ALS CURE zone, that fan will receive an autographed photo from Stephen Piscotty. Proceeds will benefit the Piscotty family foundation to find a cure for ALS.)
Blue Jays: $60 (in Buffalo)
Indians: $100
Mariners: $30
Rangers: $50
Rays: $40 (season ticket holder), $60 (regular price)
Red Sox: A $500 donation to the Red Sox Foundation will yield you a fan cutout that will sit atop the Green Monster for a portion of the season. If a Red Sox home run ball hits the cutout, that fan will receive the autographed home run ball, two Green Monster tickets for a 2021 home game, a custom Red Sox jersey, a video replay of the home run. Proceeds are donated to the COVID-19 relief in Massachusetts.
Royals: $40
Twins: $80/ $40 for season-ticket holders.
White Sox: $49 (for first home stand only)
