Mets plan Alumni Classic Game for Sept. 13 with a Shea Stadium-based team vs. a Citi Field-based team

More than 40 former Mets players and managers will return to Citi Field on Sept. 13 for an Alumni Classic Game, with rosters composed of the last decade at Shea Stadium and the first decade at Citi Field, the Mets announced on Thursday.
The game will be three innings and will be played before a 4:10 p.m. start against the Texas Rangers.
The Mets said Baseball Hall of Famers Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez and Billy Wagner will be in attendance.
Willie Randolph and Bobby Valentine will be the co-managers for the Shea Stadium team. The Citi Field squad will be co-managed by Terry Collins and Jerry Manuel.
Mets Hall of Famers John Franco, Al Leiter, Edgardo Alfonzo and Piazza along with Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Robin Ventura and Cliff Floyd, among others, will be part of the Shea Stadium roster.
The Citi Field roster will feature Curtis Granderson, Ike Davis, Bartolo Colon, R.A. Dickey, Johan Santana, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and others.
Mets Hall of Famers Darryl Strawberry and Mookie Wilson will serve as ambassadors for the game.
The Mets said in a news release that the rosters are subject to change.
The Mets held their first Old-Timers’ Day since 1994 on Aug. 27, 2022. A sellout crowd of 42,617 welcomed back 64 former Mets and watched a 2 1⁄2-inning Old-Timers game. The team did not hold Old-Timers’ Days in 2023 or 2024.
