Roger, over and out
Roger Bernadina had no career home runs, now the Nationals’ outfielder has two. His second, a two-run shot off Francisco Rodriguez in the ninth inning, broke a 4-4 tie as the Mets lost, 6-4.
Bernadina’s diving catch off a ball hit by Jeff Francoeur with the bases loaded in the fifth likely cost the Mets three runs.
The Nationals also got three runs batted in by starting pitcher Craig Stammen. The second-place Nationals have won four-of-six against the Mets.
