World Series ticket prices at Citi Field haven't taken a hit despite Mets' Game 1 loss

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Despite the Mets' loss in Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday night, prices for Games 3, 4 and 5 at Citi Field were holding steady as of Wednesday afternoon.
According to SeatGeek.com, the average completed sales prices on the secondary market were $1,166 for Game 3 Friday, $1,097 for Game 4 Saturday and $1,163 for Game 5 Sunday.
TicketNetwork.com was tracking averages of $1,229.74 for Game 3, $1,044.26 for Game 4 and $1,017.34 for Game 5.
Chris Leyden, a content analyst for SeatGeek, said asking prices also were holding steady for the games at Citi, with a high of $1,873 for Game 3 and several hundred dollars less than that for Games 4 and 5.
But a dip in prices would be expected if the Mets were to lose Game 2 Wednesday night. Among other things, that would mean they could not clinch at home. The Mets clinched the division title, NLDS and NLCS on the road.
It is important to remember that often, but not always, prices on the secondary market drop significantly on game day.
For example, the median listing price for Game 1 on the day the Royals qualified for the World Series was $1,001, according to SeatGeek. But by 2 p.m. Tuesday that had fallen to $458.
