Yankees-Blue Jays game to start at 4:30 p.m.
The tarp is (finally) coming off the field at Yankee Stadium, and the Yankees series finale against the Blue Jays is now scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Yankees announced about 15 minutes before Thursday's scheduled 1:05 p.m. start that, due to inclement weather, first pitch would be delayed.
Rain began to fall at the Stadium around 1:35 p.m. and continued until after 3 p.m., ranging from light to moderate. Tarp removal began around 3:40 p.m.
According to weather.com, there's a 60 percent chance or greater of thunderstorms until 5 p.m., but no precipitation is likely after that.
Roster moves
Infielder Jayson Nix, who was hit on the hand by an R.A. Dickey knuckleball on Wednesday and suffered a fractured hand, was placed on the disabled list before Thursday's game.
Righty reliever Preston Claiborne, who's pitched in 35 games for the Yankees this season with a 2.74 ERA and was with the team Tuesday as the 26th man during the doubleheader, was re-called from Triple-A to take Nix's roster spot.
The move leaves the Yankees with a three-man bench, but Girardi indicated he'd prefer to have more pitching in the short term since the team had to use long men Adam Warren and David Huff on Wednesday.
