Joe Girardi lashes out at ESPN camera, files a protest

BOSTON -- Joe Girardi believes ESPN was out of line and took it out on the mobile camera the network had perched on the dugout railing.
After Michael Pineda's ejection, the camera swung around and focused in the tunnel. There, Pineda was engaged in a discussion with trainer Steve Donohue and pitching coach Larry Rothschild. Girardi swatted at the camera to turn it back around.
"That camera's purpose is for the field and the dugout, not shooting up into the tunnel for private situations," GM Brian Cashman said.
The Yankees formally protested to MLB and ESPN and Girardi said he would not be pleased if he is fined. "It has been clearly stated that is for the dugout, not for the tunnel and the conversations between players and coaches." Girardi said. ". . . If I really was going to tear up the camera, I would have tore it up. I was just trying to get it from being in the tunnel.
