Fun facts on new Hall of Famer Mike Mussina

Former Yankees and Orioles pitcher Mike Mussina, in his sixth year on the ballot, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2019 on Tuesday.
Here's a look at some fun facts from his 18-year major league career.
-- Mike Mussina was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles twice – first in the 11th round of the 1987 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Montoursville High School in Pennsylvania and again in the first round (20th overall) of the 1990 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Stanford.
-- Mussina made his major-league debut with the Orioles on Aug. 4, 1991. He allowed one earned run on four hits and four walks in 7 2/3 innings in a losing effort against the Chicago White Sox.
-- Though Mike Mussina never won the Cy Young Award in his 18-year career, he did finish in the top six in voting nine times, including once as the runner-up to Oakland’s Bob Welch in 1999.
-- Mussina’s lone 20-win season came in his final season (2008) when he went 20-9 with a 3.37 ERA, 1.223 WHIP and 150 strikeouts in 34 starts with the Yankees.
-- Mussina’s five All-Star appearances all came as a member of the Orioles. He was never selected to an All-Star Game in eight seasons with the Yankees.
