Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series ticket prices set new record on secondary market
The Yankees and Dodgers have yet to take the field against one another, but already their much-hyped World Series showdown is setting records.
As of Wednesday morning, the Series has become the most expensive on record on the secondary ticket market, according to the resale site TickPick.
The overall average purchase price of $1,703 surpassed the previous high of $1,691 in 2016, when the Cubs ended their 108-year championship drought by beating Cleveland in seven games.
This year’s World Series now is more than twice as expensive as last year’s between the Rangers and Diamondbacks, which averaged $776.
As of early Wednesday, the “get-in,” or lowest, asking price for Game 1 in Los Angeles on Friday was $975, significantly less expensive than for Game 3 on Monday at Yankee Stadium. Those tickets are going for a minimum of $1,476 for standing room and $1,790 for a physical seat.
The average purchase price for Game 3 so far is $1,998, the third most expensive Series game on record, according to TickPick.
