Barbosa traded to Pacers

The Indiana Pacers have filled a major need.

First reported by Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears and later confirmed by the Pacers, the Toronto Raptors traded shooting guard Leandro Barbosa to Indiana. The Pacers sent back a second round pick.

In Barbosa, Indiana gets a reliable outside shooter. He has shot 46.0 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from three over his career, and this year, is averaging 12.2 points on 43.6 percent shooting, including 36.0 percent from three.

The Pacers, as a team, are shooting 43.2 percent from the field, and 36.1 percent from three.

Barbosa is a free agent after this season.

Indiana has thrived against weaker teams, but fallen flat against stronger competition. In the last 40 days, the Pacers have a five-game losing streak and a four-game losing streak, both stretches featuring games predominantly against teams with winning records.

Despite struggling in marquee games, the Pacers, who crushed the 76ers 111-94 last night, are 25-16, fifth place in the East.
