Billy King acknowledges Deron Williams has bone spur
Billy King said there's no need to sound the alarm.
The Nets general manager insisted Thursday that Deron Williams isn't any more injured than the team has said publicly. The Nets said he was dealing with left ankle inflammation but never mentioned that it stemmed from bone spurs, which is what Williams said in describing his injury during an ESPN interview Wednesday.
To King, it's a matter of semantics. "The MRI, there's a bone spur," he said. "But the inflammation came from the bone spur. So the injection worked and after the season, he'll probably get it cleaned up."
Taylor back at practice
Tyshawn Taylor returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's session because of the conditions at his Hoboken, N.J., apartment caused by Hurricane Sandy.
Taylor, who lives on the eighth floor of his complex, was without power. He said he was able to go outside and walk in the building's courtyard, but a roughly five-foot water level in the parking lot made it impossible to escape after the storm. He wasn't able to leave until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, staying overnight at a Brooklyn hotel.
All he kept thinking about was the possibility of missing the Knicks game. "That's why I was stressing the most, honestly," he said. "I wasn't really stressing about the rain. I kind of got some sleep because we had no power, no TV. So I wasn't really stressing about anything besides not being able to practice on Wednesday.
"I'm like, 'If I don't practice, there's no way he's letting me play in the game.' I was like, 'I've got to get out of here.' "
