Jason Kidd, who was hired to coach the Brooklyn Nets just days after retiring as a player, has a court date next week in New York stemming from a drunken driving arrest last year.

Kidd has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DWI. A spokesman for prosecutors in Suffolk County on eastern Long Island confirms that Kidd is due in Southampton Town Court on June 20.

Kidd's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., did not return a call for comment.

Kidd suffered minor injuries when his vehicle hit a pole and veered into the woods in Water Mill last July. After his arrest, Kidd said on Twitter that he regretted "any disruption my accident ... may have caused members of the community."

The misdemeanor charge carries up to a year in jail.
