The Nets added more depth at guard by signing former lottery pick Killian Hayes to a one-year, Exhibit 10 contract, a league source confirmed to Newsday.

Hayes will get the chance to compete for a roster spot during training camp after spending his first four seasons with the Pistons, who drafted him 7th overall in 2020.

While with the Pistons, Hayes averaged 8.1 points and 5.2 assists in 210 career games, with 145 starts. However, the 22-year-old was waived last season around February's trade deadline.

At 6-foot-5, Hayes earned praise for his playmaking and defense, yet struggled as a shooter. He’s shot just 38.2% overall in his career and 27.7% on three-pointers.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed, minimum-salary deal that's an invitation to training camp. It can be converted into a standard two-way contract before the start of the season .

The Nets filled their 15th and final roster spot Sunday by signing Keon Johnson to a multi-year contract. However, Hayes can help add point guard depth behind Ben Simmons and Dennis Schroder, especially since Simmons has played just 57 games since joining the Nets via trade in February 2022.
