Larry the 'Twitter' Bird gets his name from Larry Legend
Sure, you knew that the Twitter logo is a little blue bird. But did you know that "his" name is "Larry the Bird?"
And did you know he is named after Boston Celtics great Larry Bird?
MSNBC.com gave readers a history legend about the Twitter bird, complete with confirmation from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone that Larry the Bird is, in fact, named after Larry Legend.
According to MSNBC, the logo's name, Larry, was first referenced in a tweet from Twitter itself on March 1, 2011. And on Aug. 11, 2011, Stone confirmed a question from Peter Stringer, the Celtics' Director of Interactive Media, that asked whether the bird was named after, well, Bird.
