Adam Willett returns to the ring
Adam Willett, the former national amateur boxing champion who returned to the ring after barely surviving gunshot wounds, is back in action on Saturday night at the Paramount Theater in Huntington. In a card that features five Long Island fighters, Willett faces Aaron Kinch in a heavyweight bout.
The other Long Island fighters are - Chris Algieri against Curtis Smith in the main event, as well as Cletus Seldin, Richie Neves and Raul Nuncio.
Willett, 2-1, has not been in the ring since March of 2011.
"It's been very hard find cruiserweights around here to fight me," said Willett. "That's why we are taking this fight at heavyweight."
Willis, 29, from Bellport, insisted there are no physical ailments holding him back.
"For a while people thought I was damaged goods," he said. "That's the furtherest thing from the truth. I am ready to go. Training has gone great."
The Joe DeGuardia-promoted card begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Paramount is located at 370 New York Ave., Huntington. For ticket info, call 631-673-7300 or visit, paramountny.com or starboxing.com.
